Meet Our Team!

Dr. Terrie Faber BSA, DVM, Fellow of the Academy of Veterinary Dentistry
Certified RECOVER Rescuer

Dr. Terrie Faber always felt a special kinship with animals and by age seven decided she would become a veterinarian. After attaining a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (with Distinction) in 1982, she attended the

Western College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 1986. She enjoyed many years of general small animal practice, but as she became increasingly aware of the silent suffering many of her patients had because of dental disease, she began to focus her practice on veterinary dentistry. In 2001, she became a Fellow of the Academy of Veterinary Dentistry and thereafter restricted her practice exclusively to dentistry.

In November 2014, Dr. Faber was pleased to open Alberta’s first veterinary facility dedicated and designed exclusively for small animal dentistry. Centrally located and equipped with the finest and most modern equipment,

Dr. Faber and her staff ensure their patients receive the best possible care of their dental and oral health concerns.  She works closely with referring veterinarians to ensure they are kept fully informed of treatment recommendations and surgical treatments.  Dr. Faber’s dedication to veterinary dentistry is fueled by the dramatic improvement in her patients’ quality of life that results from their dental disease and oral pain being alleviated.

Dr. Faber teaches small animal dentistry to the 2nd and 3rd Veterinary students at the University of Calgary Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (UCVM) and offers elective in-clinic rotations to 4th year students. She has provided a wide range of continuing education seminars for the veterinary community and donates her time performing dental work at the Calgary Zoo.

Dr. Faber is married to Perry and has two adult children, Jared and Mikaela. Her extended fur-family consists of a handsome cat named Sammy and Josie, a rescued Maltese cross.

Dr. Brittney Rigby BSc, DVM, DAVDC
Board Certified Veterinary Dentist

Certified RECOVER Rescuer

Dr. Rigby grew up in Utah where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business from Utah State University. Following her undergraduate degree, she attended veterinary school at the University of

Wisconsin and achieved a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2018. Since her first year of veterinary school, Dr. Rigby had a strong passion for veterinary dentistry due to the unique anatomy of the oral cavity and the complex diseases that manifest there. Upon completion of veterinary school, she continued her education through advanced specialty training. Dr. Rigby completed a Small Animal Rotating Internship at the Calgary Animal Referral and Emergency Center (CARE Center) where she was able to hone her skills in many facets of veterinary medicine including emergency medicine, surgery, dentistry, anesthesia, and more. Next, Dr. Rigby moved back to Wisconsin where she completed a residency training program in Dentistry and Oral Surgery at the University of Wisconsin. During her residency, she was trained in advanced dental procedures, and in maxillofacial surgery, including oncologic surgery (removal of facial tumors) and treatment of facial fractures. Dr. Rigby joined Alberta Veterinary Dentistry in March, 2022.

Dr. Rigby is skilled in all aspects of veterinary dentistry including diagnosis and treatment of periodontal disease and endodontic disease, prosthodontics, orthodontics, facial traumatology, and oromaxillofacial tumors. While she enjoys all the disciplines included in the scope of veterinary dentistry and oral surgery, she is particularly passionate about pediatric dentistry and feline oral surgery.

Joining Dr. Rigby in Calgary is her husband, Michael, and their kittens, Archibald and Ogden. After growing up in the foothills of the American Rocky Mountains, Michael and Brittney are thrilled to be back in the Rockies to enjoy all things outdoors including hiking, biking, camping, cross-country skiing and snowboarding. They are also avid travelers and enjoy exploring new cultures and climates around the world.

Tammy Brooks Registered Veterinary Technician,
Veterinary Technician Specialist (Dentistry)
Certified RECOVER Rescuer

Ever since Tammy can remember, she has always had a love for animals. Growing up in Calgary she realized she wanted to become a Registered Veterinary Technician while volunteering for a local veterinary clinic; she loved the idea of being able to help all those dogs and cats that could not speak for themselves. Tammy graduated from Fairview College in 2002 and worked with Dr. Faber for a number of years before starting a family. She was reunited with Dr. Faber when she joined the AVD team in January 2015. Tammy’s passion for dentistry has always been evident in her work, and in June 2018 she obtained her Veterinary Technician Specialist designation in Dentistry, making her the second in Canada with this title! She is grateful that she will be able to help so many more pets in discomfort. When not at the clinic, Tammy is kept busy with family projects and her daughter Lilian.

Rebecca Tierney BSc, Registered Veterinary Technician
Certified RECOVER Rescuer

Rebecca joined Alberta Veterinary Dentistry in March, 2022.  She is originally from Nova Scotia and worked as a veterinary assistant with both pets and farm animals. Rebecca obtained her undergraduate degree in Biology at Acadia University while working part-time at her local veterinary clinic. In 2007, Rebecca moved to Calgary and continued to work as a veterinary assistant while expanding her family with two sons, Joshua and Matthew. Her passion has always been veterinary medicine, so after having kids, she decided to go back to school to become a registered veterinary technician through Thompson Rivers University. Since then, she has been working with small animal clinics and rescue societies and is very excited to call AVD her new home! Rebecca spends her spare time trying to keep up with her sons and her border collie puppy, Echo.

Alexa Jones Registered Veterinary Technician
Certified RECOVER Rescuer

Alexa made her journey to AVD in August, 2022, all the way from her home in Burlington Ontario. Back in Ontario, she attended University of Guelph's Ridgetown Campus where she graduated with honours from their Veterinary Technology program in 2019. Graduating alongside her was her fluffy grey cat, Seymour who was her ultimate study buddy and partner in crime! During tech school she developed a strong interest for veterinary dentistry. Following graduation, Alexa continued to expand her knowledge in all things related to teeth, and determined that she wanted to pursue a veterinary tech specialty designation in dentistry. After sadly having to say goodbye to Seymour in December of 2021 due to cancer, Alexa made the move across the country to join the team at AVD to further pursue her passion.

In leaving Ontario, Alexa bid a sweet farewell to her loving family and her friends. She would not have been able to make this journey without all of their constant support, especially from her two best friends, Bella and Maddy. She also left her furry family member, Jello, a male long haired dilute calico. Outside the clinic, Alexa enjoys a variety of activities. She has a huge love for horror books, movies and video games. She also likes to stay active any way she can, whether it’s in the gym, going biking, or exploring hiking trails.

Amy Lemke Office Manager
Certified RECOVER Rescuer

Growing up on a farm near Three Hills, Amy realized her love for animals at an early age. Whether it be the

family dog, one of the many cats or her horse Laddie that she received for her 7th birthday, being around

animals made her very happy. After moving to Calgary and obtaining her training as a registered massage therapist, Amy soon realized she wanted to pursue a career involving dogs and cats and has now been working in the veterinary industry for over 15 years. Her first position was actually for Dr. Faber all those years ago! Amy is married to Chuck and has two children, Dylan and Abbey. When she is not busy running them around, she can be found visiting her family farm or hanging out at her in-law's cabin on weekends.

Emily Lewis  Receptionist

Emily was born in Regina, Saskatchewan and moved to Calgary at the age of three when her parents decided to leave their Standardbred Horse racing family business. She has always been the one to bring stray pets' home or have them "show up" at the front door. Having cats and dogs all her life, she decided to take the step forward and enroll in the Olds Collage Veterinary Technician Assistant program in 2019. After obtaining her certification, she worked in an emergency clinic and in general practice until August 2022, when she joined the AVD team as our receptionist. Emily is currently working towards completing her Bachelor of Arts degree with a Major in Psychology, with a long-term goal of becoming a psychologist. When she is not working or studying, Emily spends most of her time with her dog Charlie, exploring new places or cuddled up on the couch watching movies.
